Merrie Lou (Klever) Jochums , 90, died October 23, 2017 in Camarillo. She was born January 29, 1927 to Martin and Hazel Klever near Melvin, Iowa. She graduated from Melvin Iowa high school in 1945. Merrie Lou and John Jochums of Hartley, Iowa were married September 11, 1946 at the Melvin Methodist Church. They resided in Worthington, Minnesota where they had Jochums Cabinet Shop until 1961 when they moved to Camarillo, California. She worked at the Star Free Press and the Camarillo Daily News before she retired to travel the country with her best friend and husband, John, in their motorhome. She was involved with Little League baseball and softball in the 60’s & 70’s where she served as chairman of the “Ways & Means” committee. She was the official Little League score keeper and was asked to keep score at the All-Star games and girls softball. She & John did much volunteer work at the Camarillo Methodist Church. They were both awarded Life Membership in the California PTO.

She is survived by her 3 daughters and 1 son. Linda Kay Hunt (Denny) of Auburndale, Florida; Lori Lou Jochums of Camarillo,CA; Leta Rachel Tinker (Mike) of Grand Junction, Colorado and Lane Kent Jochums (Syndi) of Fruita, Colorado. Sister, Carolee (Klever) Primising of Wautoma, WI. Four Grandchildren Stacy Lynn (Hunt) Fay (Russell) of Minneapolis, MN, Amanda Lane Jochums of Colorado and Rachel Lea Ungaro (Shay) of Fruita, CA, John Michael Tinker (Emily) of Grand Junction, Colorado, and sister-in-law Ruth Klever Hanno (Jim) of Sanborn, Iowa. Six step grandchildren Brandon Tinker (Heather) and Christina Tinker Duke (Joe), Steve Jochums (Josie) and Kristi Jochums Bagley (Jon), Joel Hunt. Two great grandsons, Nolan Drake Fay and Myles Emerson Fay. Six step great grandchildren Cassondra, Joel Jr., Johnny, & Jazmin Hunt, Gavin, Charlotte & Alexander Bagley, Gabriella & Daniella Jochums, Corrine Tinker & Kaelyn Duke. 1 step great-great grandchild, Zion Hunt. She is preceded in death by her husband John in 2001, her parents, Martin & Hazel Klever, 3 brothers, Ellwood Klever in 2011 (with 2 dying in infancy), Brother-in-law Michael Primising 2012 and a step-grandson Robert L. Hunt 2011.

Donations is Merrie’s name may be made to the Camarillo United Methodist Church columbarium fund.
